Welcome!

We are Jasmina and Emma, and wild is our favorite way to be.

We love all kinds of adventures. Paddleboarding, sheep herding, beach visits, but most of all hiking. If you are up for it, follow along on our journey and join us at some fun events.

Our Story

Overall, our story is pretty boring (ouf... what a way to open this paragraph). So please bear with me because I don't think we always need a dramatic story for a life change.

I grew up in a beautiful area in Germany, between the Black Forest and Switzerland. I spent a lot of time at Lake Constanze, studied in Furtwangen, Stuttgart, and Berlin, and then started working in a small start-up with the great working conditions that you always hear about. Afterward, I moved to Canada (somewhere near Montreal) and worked there in a very easygoing job.

You are probably thinking, "wow, she must have hiked and traveled all over the place..." But no, I hated it. I did not like walking, definitely not hiking. I loved traveling, sure, but not in nature - unless there was a beach. I preferred spending my money on food, clothes, and anything fancy.

Now there is nothing wrong with it, but in the end, that was only Jasmina v1.0.

I only got introduced to nature and hiking in my 30s. I met my husband and moved to Vermont. And you kinda can't ignore the beautiful mountains right there. Plus, after already having one wonderful dog (Ein), we also got my little soulmate, Emma. Yet, I would say we were still working with Jasmina v1.2.

Fast forward to the beginning of 2022. By then I had finally realized how beautiful the world is and how much fun it is to be in nature. Hiking, camping, beach days, traveling, whatever I could get, I would take it all. But then, we got sad news. Our dog Ein has degenerative myelopathy. A degenerative disease that will slowly take away his ability to walk. Nothing we can do to stop it... so now our focus was/is on him. He can't go on long walks anymore, we can't adventure as much, rehab bills are racking up, and essentially we need to take care of him (of course!)

In combination with friends moving away, I ended up staying home a lot. Covid for sure left a mark too. And I ended up sad, with quite a few extra pounds, feeling lonely, and certainly not fulfilled. At the end of 2022, I decided to end this misery. I decided to sign up for a hiking challenge, one where I need to bring my dog Emma as well. I know Ein is in great hands and we are doing everything we can to make him happy, but we couldn't forget my little soulmate.

So I told myself that I had to get over myself and just start! In January 2023 alone we had done 10 hikes already. We are starting to get back in our groove and enjoying life - being wild again. If you would like, you are welcome to follow along on our journey, learn about the hikes we are doing and get some travel tips. We are certainly grateful you are here :)
