Make-A-Wish San Diego
May 19-21 & June 2-4, 2023 | Sponsored by Wheelhouse Credit Union
Pacific Crest Trail - Big Bear Lake, CA
At the beginning of 2023, I was looking for an incredible hiking challenge that would test my endurance and push me to my limits. And that's what the Trailblaze Challenge San Diego is to me! This annual event is hosted by the Make-A-Wish Foundation and takes hikers on a 28.3-mile trek through the beautiful mountains of San Diego County.
Not only will we get to push ourselves physically, but we'll also be making a difference in the lives of children battling critical illnesses. Participants are encouraged to fundraise for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with a goal of raising $2,500 each (you can support me and my team here). All funds raised go towards granting the wishes of children with critical illnesses, providing them with hope, strength, and joy during a difficult time in their lives.
But let's talk about the hike itself. The Trailblaze Challenge San Diego takes us hikers on a journey through the stunning mountains of San Diego County, with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. To be exact: on the PCT! The trail is a mix of single track, fire roads, and technical terrain, so we'll need to be prepared for a variety of challenges along the way.
But we won't be doing it alone. We'll be hiking with a group of like-minded individuals who are all there to support each other and make a difference. And the Make-A-Wish staff and volunteers will be there every step of the way to cheer us on, provide support, and keep us motivated.
The Trailblaze Challenge San Diego is more than just a hike. It's an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children who are facing difficult battles. It's a chance to challenge ourselves physically and mentally, and to push ourselves beyond our limits. And it's an opportunity to connect with a community of people who are all working towards the same goal.
So, am I ready to take on the Trailblaze Challenge San Diego? Am I ready to make a difference in the lives of children with critical illnesses? Clearly! That's why I have so many blog posts about different hikes for you ;) Training every week!
